La unidad de investigación Química computacional, síntesis y farmacología de moléculas de interés biológico, tiene como objetivos, generar conocimiento en las áreas básicas y aplicadas.
Nuestro interés es analizar, desde un punto de vista experimental, el papel de las señales endocrinas provenientes del sistema endocrino (hipófisis, adrenales, timo, tiroides), del sistema inmune y la inervación que reciben los ovarios, en la regulación de las funciones de los ovarios: síntesis de hormonas y ovulación (liberación de ovocitos capaces de ser fecundados). Analizamos los cambios en los mecanismos de regulación en función de los días y horas de un ciclo femenino, así como la existencia de asimetrías hipotalámicas y de otras regiones del sistema nervioso central, en los mecanismos de regulación.
También estamos interesados en el estudio de la participación de la inervación de los ovarios en el desarrollo y evolución del síndrome de ovario poliquístico experimental, a fin de obtener nuevas evidencias sobre la participación de la inervación en esta patología.
Por lo anterior, nuestros objetivos son realizar investigación original en los mecanismos que regulan las funciones del sistema reproductor en las diferentes etapas de la vida. Formar personal capacitado para desarrollar investigación original en Biología de la Reproducción. Contribuir al desarrollo de tesis originales para la obtención de licenciaturas y grados de maestría y doctorado.
